About Me
Hello! I am the 6th grade and 7th grade (M-Z) counselor at Charlotte Wood. I am proud to work in education along side my father, mother, and sister, who have been teaching for over 60 years combined. I was born and raised in Sonoma, California, and take great pride in my small town roots. For many years, I thought I would become a teacher and follow in my family's footsteps. I was first introduced to the idea of counseling by my counselor at Justin-Siena High School, in Napa, California. Following my family in green and gold tradition, I received my BA in Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
Upon graduating from USF, I worked at a family child care where I taught preschool. Realizing that school counseling was my vocation, I enrolled once again, at USF. Juggling both school and work full time, I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Education and my Pupil Personnel Services Credential. I knew that Charlotte Wood was the place I wanted to be as soon as I set foot on campus-it just felt right.
My personal counseling philosophy is to see each child as a unique individual while providing a safe place for kids when they need help in navigating both academic and emotional hurdles. This is my eleventh year as a school counselor at Charlotte Wood. I adore my family, which consists of my husband, Erik, 7 year old son, Kieran, 5 year old daughter, Anna, 2 1/2 year old daughter, Tatum, and our 6 month old baby boy, Liam. We enjoy living in Danville and think it's a great community to raise our kids!
Students and parents are welcome to make an appointment regarding any school related issues. My office hours are Monday-Friday from 9am to 2pm. I can be reached by email at kpounds@srvusd.net or by voice mail at 552-2099.
