Urban Farmers Annual Fruit Tree Sale

Have you always wanted a peach tree or a pear? The Urban Farmers annual fruit tree sale is on. For $25 you can get an heirloom tree that will produce wonderful fruit. Go to http://www.theurbanfarmers.org/store/ to order your tree. Four years ago Urban Farmers set the goal of planting 1000 fruit trees in the area. In the past 3 years they have planted 720 trees. Please help them meet their goal by planting a fruit tree. One hundred percent of the profits from the fruit tree sale will support the backyard harvest program to feed the hungry.

If you have a fruit tree already and don’t know what to do with all the fruit it produces, register that tree with Urban Farmers and we will come and glean the fruit (after giving you whatever you would like). The gleaned fruit is then taken to the Food Bank. You can also help us with the gleaning project by registering to be a volunteer. Here is the link http://www.theurbanfarmers.org/.

Sportstrong Basketball - Winter Sessions Available

Sportstrong Basketball is a non profit community basketball league and we are excited to offer “Score Clinics” during November and December for boys who are in 3rd to 8th grades.  These clinics are a great way for players to improve and practice their offensive skills.  We’ll reinforce proper techniques on shooting, dribbling, passing and catching the ball, and how to cut. Players will then be able to apply these skills by playing in live action games.  We have excellent coaches with high school, AAU and CYO experience. Clinics do not interfere with CYO games and is a great way to get more practice and experience for league play. Click on http://www.sportstrong.com/basketball-score-clinics  for more information.
